Missing 2-year-old girl found asleep in woods, full story?
A missing 2-year-old girl was found asleep in the woods in Michigan on Wednesday night, using one of her two family dogs as a pillow.
The girl, identified as Thea Chase, had wandered away from her home in the Faithorn area of Menominee County at about 8 p.m.
A search operation was launched immediately, with drones, police dogs, and local residents helping to scour the remote wooded area.
Thea was found approximately four hours later, about three miles from her home. She was asleep and unharmed, with her two dogs lying beside her.
"She laid down and used one of the dogs as a pillow, and the other dog laid right next to her and kept her safe," said Lt. Mark Giannunzio of the Michigan State Police.
Thea's family was overjoyed to have her back safe and sound. Her mother, Sarah Chase, said that she was "so grateful" to everyone who helped in the search.
