New bill could bar landlords from
charging rent for pets
The Colorado Legislature may ban pet rentals and deposits for pet owners, according to a new bill underway.
The bill HB23-1068 was introduced in the Colorado Legislature in January.
It is believed that this bill will deal with such an issue which used to affect animal owners and their houses more.
In accordance with HB23-1068, the bill may provide several protections for pet ownership in housing.
Stop landlords from charging extra security deposits or rent for pets.
This program reimburses landlords up to
$1,000
for damage caused by a pet on a rental property.
Eligible landlords must allow pets and cannot charge a deposit or rent for pets.
